Words can’t express my thanks to you for the peace you’ve brought to my heart over this latest assault of evil on the world stage. The language of music is indeed such a powerful metaphor for the silence that can fortify our hearts against the madness that seems to be overtaking the world today. I have hope again…
This is fantastic. I found myself in tears as I read it. These truths have been on my heart, and I have so wanted a way to articulate them. Now, I can share your article. Thank you! I thank God for you and your gifts.
What a marvelous piece of writing! To quote Dr. Lilles:
"When the light and love, longing and peaceful joy of Mozart’s music is heard and considered, might we not venture to think that the Holy Spirit has raised this music, and that of Bach’s Ich habe genug, for example, beyond the transhistorical (from age to age) to the heights of life with the Blessed Trinity?"
The answer is a resounding "Yes!". Thank you Dr. Lilles.
Thank you for this beautiful piece Dr Lilles! Its was inspiring and encouraging!
Many of my colleagues in the Philosophy/Theology Dept of our Jesuit University have belittled the mockery of our Lord. They speak of inclusivity of LGBT and drag... Or that our Lord cannot really be hurt by the mockery etc.
I've always known they lean more liberal. But I did not think that they were so far gone. I always thought that most of them had sincere love for the Lord. Seeing their reactions like this has been heartbreaking.
Sorry for the long comment. Thank you again for this post. It gave me new hope.
This is inspired. Thank you again. Yes it's true my heart can always find rest in praise. Let the robust silent calls of prayerful hearts beat louder than the cacophony of blasphemy, let our hearts explode in praise and faith in God's goodness, let His eu-catastophe be the movement that empowers our human freedom and dignity in the fight against hellfire!

Dr. Lilles, this is utterly sane. Thank you for a taste of peace and stillness in this storm!
